IT Live speaker announcement – André Casterman

International Trade Live have the pleasure of announcing our next confirmed speaker ahead of the must-attend virtual trade event taking place on 8-9 November; André Casterman, CEO Trade Finance Distribution Initiative.

André Casterman is an advisor to technology companies active in trade finance and digital assets. André spent 24 years at SWIFT, leading various innovations in inter-bank payments, corporate treasury, and trade financing. During that time, he established an institutional partnership between SWIFT and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and created the first digital trade settlement instrument embedding smart contract capabilities.

In 2016, André founded Casterman Advisory to guide start-ups around product strategy and market engagement. André is a Board Member at the International Trade and Forfaiting Association (ITFA) and chairs the largest and most active trade industry’s Fintech Committee with a focus on helping banks automate trade financing (DNI Initiative) and establishing it as an alternative investment class for institutional and retail investors (TFD Initiative).

André holds a master’s degree in applied economics from ICHEC Brussels Management School and two master’s degrees in computer sciences and in management from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB).

As Board Member of both Tradeteq and ITFA, André Casterman is leading the TFD Initiative in order to scale the trade distribution market. TFD Initiative has established the largest community of trade originators and liquidity providers. Next to the community, TFD Initiative has developed a technology stack that capital markets investors utilise to invest in trade assets serviced by banks and alternative lenders.

In this highly insightful and engaging interview session, André will discuss his work with the TFDi and how technological approaches to finance, like that of the Tradeteq platform, are helping businesses to flourish. André will explore the various challenges that businesses are experiencing when it comes to trade finance, as well as outline the ways in which technology is helping to overcome these issues.
